For the past oh I would say six or seven months, I have been doing a lot of self discovering. I look around me and observe and listen to people. I discover what I like and don't like. I discover the importance of individuality.
In a Broadway Musical called Les Mesirables, one of the main characters Jean Val Jean sings a song calls Who Am I? He basically discovers that his mark of numbers from being in prison is not what defines him but that he is in fact Jean Val Jean.
I have struggled in the past of wondering what my worth is and why I am not pretty or skinny. But I have been discovering that things like that are not the most important in life. I believe the most important thing in life is how you treat others and who you become.
My goal in life is to return to Heavenly Father through His Son Jesus Christ who paid for my sins, imperfections and sicknesses.
There are many things I am weak at. I get mad on the road, I have food addictions, I am negative Nelly sometimes and many other weaknesses. But, because of my Savior, I can repent and do better
I don't have to measure up to anyone else. I don't have to be aproced by anyone but the Savior.
I am who I am. I have to treat others with respect and kindness just as the Savior would.
Many times in church we are told to look for estravagent ways to serve others. But I believe it's the kind gesture of letting someone in while you're stuck in traffic, texting or Facebooking someone you haven't for a long time, asking someone sincerely how they are doing. These are ways to show who you truelly are and who you are trying to be.
My challenge for each of us this week is find one way we can serve someone in a small but genuine way.
Think about who you truelly want to be and how to get there.
