Becoming and Being vs Just Doing

For the past few months I feel as if I have been taught so much by the spirit about.becoming who I am meant to be.
As I have been observing growing internet social groups, games and current actions of society I am coming to realize how important it is to slow down and become rather.than just doing.
This kinda sounds like a conference talk I know but I will not apologize.  I have been realizing that the Gospel means more to me than anything in this world.
Looking at Facebook status's I have realized that we are so focused on telling people every second of our lives.  As I go about my day and out into society, I see people on their phone while exercising, while shopping and even in the bathroom (don't worry that's not where I am).  I think as a society we.have lost the value of talking to a person face to face.  We have become so busy with technology and mindless gaming that we forget what is important.
Don't get me wrong.  Some if that is fine.  One needs to relax and chill in the matter which he or she desires.  But it's the hours and days of which I am talking.  Granted here I am blogging and on my phone.  So I am not one to talk.
I have a lot to work on myself.  I have barely began to scratch the surface of what is really important.
I am also realizing that because there are so many people out there there are also many opinions and ways and paths to do things.  Sometimes we feel we have to measure up to other's standards and do what they want to do.  But this is simply not true.  We have to have a goal in mind and focus on that goal.  We can ask other's opinions and suggestions on how THEY would do it.  But we have to become the person who WE want to be.  I know this is very sad that I am barely beginning to scratch the surface of these concepts but that is MY journey.
Now taking all of this into concideration does not mean we should be rude to others.  In fact the Person that we should aspire to be most like is our Savior Jesus Christ.  He is our Ultimate Examplar.  His Gospel is the only way back to our Heavenly Father.  If our goal is to become as He is and return to our Heavenly Father then we should do everything in our power and use the Atonement for what is not in our power but His to reach that goal to become who we need to become.  The world will tell us how to be and what to wear and how to act to be "cool."  But He will tell us how to receive everlasting joy and life.  Who do you want to be?
