Ok, so if anyone reads theses blogs I know they have been more on the spiritual side of things. I have to say that's because that's really who I am....or rather trying to be. So I will not apologize for them being spiritual for they are my testimony and again who I am.
We had a wonderful Stake and Regional Conference this past weekend. The people who spoke had a common theme of we are better than we think we are but we need to work hard on becoming more Christlike and work hard to follow the Holy Ghost. I have been thinking about that a lot. This world is becoming more and more wicked every day. Even close family and friends I have seen loose their way so it's becoming more and more distracting even to those whom we love and ourselves. There is no way of avoiding it. But like it was talked about in the conference this weekend, we need to do what ever it takes to stay on the streight and narrow path. It will be hard. There are some really hard times ahead. But we can stay on the path that leads to eternal life. We can still fill our souls with the prompting of the Holy Ghost. Amazingly enough the advice given wasn't anything new. There wasn't any new revelation on what to do to gain more spirituality. It was simply read your scriptures, say meaningful fervant prayers, go to the temple, serve others. The gospel doesn't have to be complicated. It doesn't have to have a lot to go into it. If we simply turn the distractions off what ever they may be we can have the Holy Ghost in our lives.
That has gotten me thinking that I want to become better. I want to be more Christlike. If I have ever offended you in any way please forgive me. I don't mean to be harsh or cruel if I am. I am not perfect like everyone else. I have so much to work on. Don't worry, I drive myself crazy sometimes. But that is where I am so so very eternally grateful for the Atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ. I know He lives and has sacrificed Himself for us so that we can become clean. We have to make mistakes and mess up. That is what this life is for. We are to learn by them and repent and become clean again. I was reading in the scriptures today and there are some verses the really hit me.
I have been learning more and more about the purpose of life. We will all have hard times. We will be forced to face some difficult times what ever they may be. But WE CAN NOT loose faith. We CAN NOT loose sight of why we are here on earth. We are here to become like our Heavenly Father. We are here to follow the Savior and use His Atonement to become better. To become clean.
2 Nephi 2:10-11 "And because of the intercession for all, all men come unto God; wherefore, they stand in the pressence of him, to be judged of him according to the truth and holiness which is in him. WHerefore, the ends of the law which the Holy One hath given, unto the inflicting of the punishment which is affixed, which punishment that is affixed is in opposition to that of the happiness which is affixed, to answer the ends of the atonement-
For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. IF not so, my first-born in the wilderness, rightesousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound inonel wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither deth, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nore misery, neither sense nor insensibility."
So we are meant to have hard times. We are ment to suffer. But if we have faith in the plan that our Heavenly Father has set out for us, we can be successful. We are not perfect. The only way that we can fail is if we give up on the plan that our Heavenly Father wants us to follow. The only way we can fail is if we forget who we truelly are.
2 Nephi 31: 16-17:
And now, my beloved brethern, I know this that unless a man shall endure to the end, in following the example of the Son of the living God, he cannot be saved. WHerefore, do the things which I have told you I have seen that your Lord and your Redeemer should do; for, for this cause have they been shown unto me, that ye might know the gate by which ye should enter. For the gate by which ye should enter is repentance and baptism by water; and then cometh a remission of your sins by fire and by the Holy Ghost."
