So my mom and I went to see Angels and Demons with Tom Hanks and Ewan MacGregor. It's interesting because there is so much controversy with Tom Hanks and the church (LDS) and what not. I personally like him as an actor. Ok, so if that makes me a bad person oe'll. But anyway, the reason why I bring that up is because a co-worker and I were talking about this movie last week and he said that he won't see anything with Tom Hanks in it. I figure it's no big deal. He's just an actor who makes millions of dollars. I think if you want to go see a movie with him in it go for it.
So I did. My mom invited me to go with her to see this movie on Saturday. It was an interesting movie. Here is the basic storyline for those of you who haven't read the book:
It's set in the Vatican (Italy I believe). In the beginning of the movie the pope has just died. They need to start the long process of finding a new pope. However, there are some enimies to the Catholic church who believe that science and techonolgy is what makes a religion. (Brush up on your Catholic and Vatican history before you go see this movie...there's a lot in there.) So, someone has kidnapped the four cardinals who are up for election to be the new pope. They are destined to be killed one at each hour starting at 8:00pm. There is an anti matter made by a company and the kidnapper has stolen this anti matter to blow up the Vatican city by light at close to midnight. Tom Hanks plays a professur and the people who protect the cardinals as him to come and figure out these codes that they've recieved.
That's basically the storyline. It's a lot more complicated but that's what I got out of it. May be you can get more if you haven't seen it and go see it. I'm very simple so I couldn't understand a lot of it.

The movie is pretty good. Pretty action packed. It keeps you on your toes then a little twist at the end that you don't expect. It has a little bit of swearing mostly done by Tom. No sex. It's kinda graphic on the violence. It's not really blood and guts, there is some shooting, but mostly it's torture graphic violence stuff. I dunno. I guess it's a movie you need to see and form your own opinion. I just thought I'd put this review up. I would suggest reading the book before or may be even after. My mom said it helped a lot to have read the book.
I hope this review helps for those who have been at all interested in seeing this movie.

I thought that Ron Howard did a very good job not making the torture scenes too graphic - if you know what I mean - they could have made it A Lot worse. I thought they did a good job with the adaptation from book to movie. Acting I thought was good and I liked the guy who followed around Tom Hanks's character in the Vatican's Library. hohoho funny..
